This paper presents a multi-objective compliance-integrated coevolution framework for multi-robot marine autonomy. The approach addresses the challenge of coordinating multiple robots in maritime missions such as reef exploration, subsea inspection, and search-and-rescue, where feedback signals are sparse and safety/regulatory compliance is critical.
The framework combines multi-objective optimization with compliance constraints, allowing robots to evolve behaviors that balance performance metrics like coverage and energy efficiency while adhering to operational norms. Coevolution enables robots to adapt to each other's strategies in a shared environment.
Validation is conducted in both simulated and real-world settings, demonstrating the framework's ability to transfer policies from simulation to physical robots. The results show improved coordination and compliance compared to baseline methods.
